Interactivity and Game Design
The following game assets were designed and painted using Cinema 4D and Substance Painter. Then the assets are put into Unity where the game is built. Game developing comes along with asset designs, sounds designs, character designs, and layout designs. These games for an Animation and Interactivity college course.
Cat and Mouse Game
The Cat and Mouse game is an original idea for a game where you have to avoid obstacles and make it to the finish before time runs out. You start off as a rat character who is avoiding being hit by cat claws and yarn balls. Your goal is to make it to the prized cheese before the end of the timer.
Character Design
Modeling the body and limbs was the first step to creating the rat hero. After that is done the character asset is UV unwrapped and placed in Substance Painter. Substance Painter is used to give our character texture and color.
This is after texturing and painting the hero character. This is a beauty shot of the character allowing for an understanding of the visual aspect the character has.
The white lines in this geo perspective allows us to see the internal shape the character has.
This sketch fab file allows you to move the character around to see more of the body design.
Character Movement
Along with visual design our character needs coding and animation to make is a working hero asset. Cinema is used to give the character bones and joints. Then controls are added to those joints to aid in animating. After rigging the character and freezing the joints and controls animating the character comes in to play.
Character Animations
The video below show the character moving as it jumps, idols, and runs
This is a video illustrating the movements and animations that went into the character design
Course Layout and Design
When planning out the layout for the game it's best to sketch or make a visual representation.
This was the original plan and mapping out of the levels.
Here is the final layout for the game. There is a celling in the game but for this view they are turned off.
Obstacle Design
In the Cat and Mouse game there are cat paws and yarn balls that try to push you aside. There are other designed objects that are used for lighting or platforms.
This is the beauty shot of one of the paw obstacles. This was after modeling and painting.
Here is a wireframe of the object to show the geometry of the obstacle.
Here is an example of the paw obstacle in the game.

This is what the yarn ball looks like in the game.
Here is a video of the obstacles at work.
This is a Sketch Fab file which allows you to move the obstacle around to see how it works and looks.
Particle Systems
Particle systems can be seen at the beginning where there are matches and the end where the cheese has stink particles.
This is an example of what the matches look like in the game.
This is a beauty shot of the match. It has a woody bottom and a burnt top.
This match show simple polygons and allows an understanding of what the internal shapes this object has.
This is the Sketch Fab file of the match. Examination of the shape can now be past one perspective.
This video shows how the stinky cheese looks in the game.
